2 Alarm Fires Burn SoHo Roof As Good Samaritan Tries To Help Firefighters With Garden Hose In Manhattan

SOHO, Manhattan (WABC) — A two-alarm fire burned on the roof of a SoHo building, and a good Samaritan did all he could to help.

As firefighters battled the blaze from the roof of 463 Broome Street, a man on a nearby roof pulled out his garden hose.

He was seen by NewsCopter7 spraying water through gaps in buildings to try to help put out the fire.

Firefighters did their best to prevent the spread to a neighboring building, but it also appeared to be affected by the flames.

The fire broke out shortly after 6 a.m. More than an hour later, other residents of the neighboring building joined the man with the garden hose in his efforts to fight the fire by handing out buckets of water.

So far, no injuries have been reported and an investigation is underway into the causes of the fire.

It was an active morning Thursday for the FDNY as a fire ravaged a Dunkin Donuts and several other businesses in the Bronx.
