Luis Arguello Inglis identified by SJ state officials as victim of fatal shooting at SF's Dolores Park.

SAN FRANCISCOA 19-year-old man who was shot and killed this week in Dolores Park in San Francisco has been identified as a San Jose State University student.

SJ State officials confirmed Friday that Luis Arguello Inglis was enrolled and majoring in communications studies.

A Gofundme in honor of Inglis more than doubled its $10,000 goal.

“We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved son, Luis, was tragically taken from us on Wednesday evening. Luis was a bright light in our lives, filled with love, laughter and unlimited potential,” can – we read in the press release included in the fundraising. . The family's statement continues to say that his loss leaves a void in their hearts that can never be filled.

The fund is intended to cover unforeseen costs related to his death.

Police were called to 20th and Dolores streets Wednesday evening to investigate a shooting. The victim was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The city experienced a midweek heatwave that sent people flocking to parks and beaches. Dolores Park is a popular destination in just about any weather condition.

After the shooting, Town Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, who oversees the district where the park is located, said he didn't think people should “overreact to this.” He added that residents should be aware of their surroundings. KTVU has contacted Mandelman for additional comment and is awaiting his response.

The San Francisco Standard reports that Inglis was a graduate of Lowell High School in SF. We have contacted school officials for confirmation.

It's unclear what exactly led to the shooting. No arrests have been reported.
