A 19-year-old is facing several criminal charges after allegedly trying to leave with a Willoughby Hills Fire Department ambulance from Lake West University Hospital Medical Center and crashing into the side wall of a helipad.

At approximately 10:35 a.m. on June 16, Willoughby Police units responded to 36000 Euclid Ave. and found a Willoughby Hills paramedic and hospital staff holding Jamarion Hill, a Warren resident, to the ground, according to a news release. Hill was arrested without incident.

According to the press release:

Shortly before the call, several Willoughby Hills paramedics saw Hill walking around the ambulance as they left the hospital's emergency room. Hill then entered the driver's compartment and began to leave. One of the paramedics ran to the driver's side door and partially entered through the window. He began to struggle with the suspect and ordered him to stop.

Hill lost control of the ambulance and struck the side wall of the helipad. He was removed from the vehicle and held on the ground.

Hill reportedly suffered no injuries while the paramedic suffered minor injuries.

Hill was charged with one count of grand larceny, a second-degree felony; one count of auto theft, a fourth-degree felony; one count of disruption of public service, also a fourth-degree felony; and one count of misconduct in emergency, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Hill was arraigned June 17 via video in Willoughby Municipal Court and his bond was set at $50,000, the release states. His preliminary hearing will take place on June 20.
