18-year-old wanted for allegedly stabbing his mother's boyfriend in New Hampshire

An 18-year-old Lowell man wanted by police for allegedly stabbing his mother's boyfriend multiple times on her orders earlier this month has been found by authorities in Manchester, New Hampshire.

An arrest warrant was issued for Xavier Washington on May 8, the same day he allegedly attacked the 45-year-old Lowell man with a 6-inch knife, leaving him with seven stab wounds, according to a Lowell police incident report.

The victim later told police the attack was over money he owed his girlfriend – Washington's mother – Kimberly Gordon, 45, of Lowell.

On Tuesday, the Lowell Police Warrant Unit located Washington at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester. Details of Washington's presence in prison were not immediately available. Washington was extradited to Massachusetts under the Lowell warrant.

The same day, he was arraigned in Lowell District Court on charges of assault with a weapon leading to murder, assault with a weapon to rob, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing great bodily injury. He was held without bail pending a 58A dangerousness hearing, scheduled for Tuesday.

Gordon, who was charged with the same offenses as her son, had her own dangerousness hearing on May 15. Judge John Coffey said Gordon posed a threat to public safety and held her without bail.

She is scheduled to return to court for a probable cause hearing on June 24.

Police said they were informed of the violent episode in the early morning hours of May 8. Around 3:20 a.m., police were called to the 300 block of Pawtucket Boulevard by a man who said he was violently attacked but was able to escape. his attackers.

The bloodied man was found by first responders along the roadway. Police said he was “bleeding moderately from the head” and his clothes were “saturated with blood.”

“We were also able to locate at least two stab wounds to his upper left shoulder, one to his left cheek and one to the upper right quadrant of his abdomen, just below his ribcage,” police said, ultimately concluding that the individual suffered from a total of seven stab wounds.

From a hospital bed, the 45-year-old told police he was in the apartment he shares with Gordon on Read Street that evening when Gordon demanded the money he had to. When the alleged victim told Gordon he didn't have the money, she ordered Washington to kill him.

According to the alleged victim's account to police, the 18-year-old man obeyed his mother's instructions by retrieving a knife from the kitchen and using it on the 45-year-old man.

The injured man told police in order to stop the assault, he told Gordon and Washington he had money, but it was in a storage unit. The police report says the two men forced the injured man into his own vehicle, then he ordered them to get out onto the VFW highway.

During the ride, the alleged victim told police she was able to jump and run from the vehicle, after which she called 911.

The injured man was transported by medical helicopter to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Washington was determined to have fled the area, but police managed to find Gordon at the Read Street apartment on the morning of May 8. Police said she had blood on her clothes and that there was “blood in numerous places, inside and out.” » the vehicle located outside the apartment.

Lawyers representing Gordon and Washington were not immediately available for comment on the case.

Lowell District Court documents show Washington was free on bail at the time of the alleged assault after being stopped by police while driving a car reported stolen in Medford.

A state police incident report says the stolen vehicle contained “an Apple device” that was followed by the car's owner. Police located Washington inside the vehicle on Vernon Street in Lowell, where he was taken into custody.

According to the report, Washington told police “he got the vehicle from a friend but did not know the friend's name.”

Washington was arraigned in Lowell District Court on April 5 on charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Judge Zachary Hillman held Washington on $300 bail, which he posted the same day.
