18-year-old killed in shooting at Goldsboro Food Lion following argument

GOLDSBORO, North Carolina — A man died Friday in a shooting at a Goldsboro Food Lion.

Goldsboro police said the shooting happened at the Food Lion on E. Ash Street just after 1:30 p.m.

Officers found an 18-year-old man, Javon Langston, near the entrance with a gunshot wound. Langston died from his injuries.

The shooting happened after an argument between Langston and the suspect, police said.

“It's a matter of understanding if this has happened, how can we prevent the reaction, how can we get in quickly and try to lower the temperature,” Goldsboro Mayor Charles Gaylor said.

It creates a intervention force law enforcement and nonprofit organizations to find ways to reduce gun violence before it happens arrived.

Just WWednesday, there was another deadly shooting in Goldsboro near this same Food Lion.

“The amount of shootings, the amount of gun violence since JJanuary this is – this cannot continue,” Gaylor said.

No suspects were present when police arrived.

The mayor said the Wayne County Sheriff's Office agreed to have a stronger presence in the city during the period weekend until that intervention force meeting next week.
