18-year-old dies after shooting in Hobbs

HOBBS, N.M. — A shooting that left 18-year-old James Lara-Salazar in critical condition on May 25 died Thursday, the Hobbs Police Department said.

On May 25 at 12:20 a.m., HPD officers responded to the area of ​​the 2000 block of North Kingsley Street and found Lara-Salazar suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Due to Lara-Salazar's death, HPD said the crimes previously charged against Eddie Martinez, 19, of Hobbs, have been reclassified/amended as follows:

  • Tampering with evidence – 4th degree crime
