18-year-old charged with throwing away knife used in Lincoln murder

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An 18-year-old was arrested Wednesday in connection with a fatal stabbing.

Guy Alkafaji of Lincoln is charged with being an accessory to a felony in the death of 16-year-old Xavian Sawyer.

On May 18, Stephen D'Amore, 14, stabbed Sawyer twice in the chest during a fight near 64th and Adams streets.

A large group of youths were at the scene when officers arrived, according to an arrest affidavit.

Sawyer was taken to hospital, where he died about two hours later.

The affidavit says police say D'Amore gave Alkafaji a knife that was 6 to 8 inches long and covered in blood.

Police say Alkafaji threw the knife about a block away.
