PARENTS OF 16-YEAR-OLD ACCUSED OF SHOOTING PEDRO ORTIZ PEREZ ARE FACING CHARGES. ASHEBORO POLICE WARNED THE SUSPECT'S PARENTS THURSDAY FOR HELPING THEIR 16-YEAR-OLD AVOID ARREST. DENISE VERA AND ALFREDO RAMIREZ ARE THE PARENTS OF THE 16-YEAR-OLD ACCUSED IN THE MAY 3 SHOOTING OF PEDRO. They are both charged with criminal accessory after the fact, and police arrested Vera at his home while Ramirez went to the county jail. AN ELLEN UNIVERSITY LEGAL EXPERT SAYS HELPING SOMEONE AVOID ARREST CAN MEAN DIFFERENT THINGS. WHAT CAN THIS MEAN? OFFICERS RESPONDED FRIDAY AFTERNOON AFTER RECEIVING INFORMATION REGARDING AN ASSAULT. Police say they were. THERE WAS A SHOOTING AND A WOMAN WAS WOUNDED, BUT DIDN'T SAY WHO FIRED THE SHOTS. AFTER INVESTIGATION. THE HOUSE WAS EMPTY AND TWO OF THE SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF GREENSBORO POLICE SERGEANT PHILIP DEL NIX WERE BACK IN COURT THIS WEEK. JUDGE BRIAN TOMLIN REFUSED TO MODIFY THE BOND OF JAMIR FOSTER AND ZACHARIAH BLACKWELL. FOSTER, WHO APPEARED IN PERSON THURSDAY AFTERNOON, IS CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER. HIS LAWYER HOPED THE JUDGE WILL CHANGE HIS GUARANTEE FROM SECURE TO UNGUARANTEED. BLACKWELL, WHO WAS ACCUSED OF BEING A PROPS, APPEARS VIRTUALLY. His lawyer wanted his bail reduced from half a million dollars to $200,000, and Steven Freeland, a law professor at Ellen University, said it's typical for a judge to deny those kinds of requests.
