17-year-old suspect arrested in Round Rock shooting

ROUND ROCK, Texas — A 17-year-old from Manor was arrested Thursday morning in connection with a shooting in Round Rock at a Juneteenth celebration over the weekend that left two people dead and 14 injured.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested the juvenile for second-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.

Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said during a news conference Thursday that the juvenile was not the only shooter and that an investigation was underway to identify who else was involved. The minor and anyone else involved could face additional charges.

The Round Rock Police Department identified those killed as Lyndsey Vicknair, 33, of Manor, and Ara Duke, 54, of Pflugerville. Both were pronounced dead at the scene and were not involved in the shooting.

The incident occurred during a Juneteenth celebration at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock when an altercation between two groups began and someone started shooting. Police said there was no indication the shooting involved gang activity.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to submit a tip or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-253-7867.
