17-year-old accused of stabbing in Worcester had large kitchen knife, police say

A 17-year-old boy faces a number of assault charges after police say he stabbed a man in Worcester on Wednesday, led police on a chase and kicked officers who had stopped.

The boy, whose name has not been released, is charged with battery on a police officer, battery with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, assault with a weapon up to murder, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace, Worcester police said. in a report.

Police found a 30-year-old man with multiple stab wounds around 1pm on Wednesday after receiving a report of a possible assault and battery on Sunderland Road. The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Worcester police spokesman Joe Cersosimo said in an email.

Some time later, police identified the 17-year-old as the suspect, according to the release. The boy is accused of leading police on a brief foot chase leading to the Green Street area and then kicking officers during his arrest.

Police said the teen had a large kitchen knife when he was arrested.
