16-year-old to be charged with attempted murder as adult in stabbing case

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -A 16-year-old was certified to face charges as an adult and was booked into the Washoe County Jail on Friday on a charge of attempted murder.

Skyler Rodriguez also faces charges of battery with a deadly weapon and fighting or inciting combat with a deadly weapon. All are crimes.

The incident occurred Feb. 10 at Meadowood Mall, when Rodriguez allegedly stabbed another person and sent them to the intensive care unit, Reno police said. The injured person has since recovered, police said.

Police believe the incident is gang-related, but have not released any other details.

Rodriguez's case was initially handled as a juvenile case until he was certified as an adult.
