16-year-old breaks into home, fatally stabs 15-year-old during sleepover: police

A 16-year-old boy forced his way into a Florida home and fatally stabbed a 15-year-old who was having a sleepover with friends, police say.

Alexander Hernandez walked nearly six miles Saturday evening to the victim's home in Wildwood where he showed up unannounced and “banged” on the front door around 10 p.m., according to the County Sheriff's Office. Sumter County.

The 15-year-old victim, Connor Michael Gill, opened the door and Hernandez forced his way inside and allegedly stabbed him.

A 48-year-old adult in the home ran to see what was happening and was also stabbed. Hernández threatened a third victim before fleeing on foot, police said.

“This was undoubtedly a premeditated and targeted attack,” said Undersheriff Pat Breeden.

Both victims were airlifted to an area hospital. Gill was pronounced dead around 1:20 p.m. and the unidentified adult remains in intensive care but is in stable condition, Breeden said.

Hernández was later located by a police helicopter and taken into custody. He had two weapons on him when the police arrested him.

The teen told detectives he ordered both guns online last Thursday. They arrived on Saturday and, after playing with them a bit, he went to the victim's home.

Hernandez is charged with premeditated first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and armed burglary.

The motive for this attack remains unclear.

Both teens were homeschooled, police said, but it's unclear how they knew each other.
