A 16-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday in the shooting death of another teen who tried to break up a fight between two classmates outside a posh SoHo hotel last month, cops said.

The arrested teen – whose name was not released because he is a minor – was arrested in Newark by the Regional Fugitive Task Force and returned to the Big Apple around 9 a.m. to face a charge of second-degree murder in the May 7 killing of Mahki Brown. .

Authorities said Brown was killed across the street from the Dominick Hotel on Spring Street.

Henry Thomas, 19, who allegedly pulled the trigger, was handcuffed May 17 and faces the same charges, police said.

The newly arrested teen's exact role in the crime is unclear.

Brown, an avid basketball player from Crown Heights, was shot in the head and shot twice in the leg during the brazen shooting, cops said.

He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The murdered teenager – who was a student at nearby Broome Street Academy Charter High School – was playing the role of “peacemaker” in a fight between two of his classmates before the shooting broke out, said NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny last month.

One of the girls involved ended up calling her brother for help, Kenny added.

Two men then showed up on a Citi Bike, one of them opening fire on a group of about 30 children.

“He stepped in to break up the fight,” the chief said of the victim.

“I was with him,” the distraught girlfriend told The Post afterward.

“It’s hard. I continue to see it on the pitch.

The deadly shootings came during a violent week for teenagers in the Big Apple — at least two were killed and six others were injured in a series of shootings and stabbings across the five boroughs.
