16-year-old accused of stabbing juvenile adult in Sumter County, sheriff's office says

SUMTER COUNTY, FL. – Sumter County deputies arrested a 16-year-old suspect accused of stabbing a juvenile and an adult Saturday night near Wildwood, according to the sheriff's office.

Officers responded around 10:11 p.m. to the 6600 block of County Road 148, where they located the adult and juvenile stabbing victims, the sheriff's office said on social media. Emergency Medical Services assisted both victims at the scene before they were airlifted to area hospitals, the post states.

An investigation led police to identify the 16-year-old suspect and learn that they had since fled, but the suspect was caught a short time later with the help of a sheriff's office helicopter, according to the message.

The suspect was being held at the Sumter County Jail Sunday morning, the sheriff's office said, adding that the investigation was ongoing.
