16-year-old accused of stabbing at sleepover

A 16-year-old is accused of entering a Sumter County, Fla., home during a sleepover and fatally stabbing another teen.

Deputies say 15-year-old Connor Gill, who lived in the home, was stabbed to death by a 16-year-old.

According to investigators, the attack was planned and the suspect, aged 16, ordered the weapons of his choice online.

“When the guns arrived Saturday, he unpacked them, played with them a bit, then walked almost six miles to the victim's residence,” described Pat Breeden of the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

Officers said the 16-year-old knocked on the door and when Connor opened it, the suspect forced his way in.

The suspect allegedly stabbed Connor and an adult male, another member of his family.

Neighbors heard a woman's cries for help.

“She was screaming, please help me, help us,” Christina Atkinson said.

Witnesses said the suspect rushed out of the door and ran across the street. He tried to hide in the woods, but law enforcement searched the area with K9s and he was found.

The man who was stabbed survived the attack, but Connor died.

“I watched him grow up playing in the neighborhood,” said Marcella Rizzuto, another neighbor. “[He was] always respectful towards neighbors.

The motive for the attack was not specified in the report, but neighbors said the 16-year-old boy knew the family well.

The 16-year-old faces numerous charges, including premeditated first-degree murder.
