15-year-old stabbed by man he tried to rob

Santa Rosa police say they have arrested a 15-year-old who was stabbed by a man he tried to rob, along with two suspected accomplices.

Officers said they responded to a report of a fight at the Santa Rosa Transit Mall shortly after 3 p.m. Friday and found the suspect with stab wounds to his arm and torso.

Detectives with the Santa Rosa Police Department's Gang Crimes Unit said the 15-year-old and his two accomplices attempted to rob a 24-year-old man, but the target of the robbery retaliated with a 4 inch kitchen knife he had in his. poached.

The 15-year-old was seriously injured but is expected to survive, police said. He was taken to the hospital and cited on suspicion of attempted robbery with gang enhancement, police said.

Using surveillance video and witness statements, officers also arrested Edgar Ciarcia Riveros, 19, and a 17-year-old on suspicion of attempted gang-enhancement robbery, police said.

The names of the youths, aged 15 and 17, have not been released because they are minors, police said.
