15-year-old boy and man dead after shooting at Mosby Court in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two people are dead and two others were injured after a shooting Monday in the East End of Mosby Court Richmond.

At 11:10 p.m. on Monday, May 27, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1900 block of Raven Street for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they were told that several people had been shot and were taken to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center by a personal vehicle.

Officers then arrived at the hospital and, with the assistance of VCU police, began an investigation into four men who had been shot.

Police said a 15-year-old Richmond boy was pronounced dead at the hospital Monday evening. A man whose life was in danger died from his injury on Tuesday May 28. A 14-year-old boy and another man were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death of the 15-year-old boy and the man, who Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney said was 24 in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

“My heart cries for the victims, their families and our community after last night’s shooting. This shooting was reckless, preventable and overall unacceptable,” Stoney said in the statement. “A weekend that was supposed to be a celebration turned into yet another act of senseless gun violence that took the lives of two people and injured two others. »

Police said detectives are currently investigating reports of altercations within a large gathering of people on Raven Street before the shooting. Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to call Detective C. Tovar at 804-646-6739.
