15-year-old boy among three arrested for fatally stabbing teenager

A 15-year-old boy is among three people arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was stabbed.

Northamptonshire Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of Rayon Pennycook, 16, in Corby on Tuesday evening.

Police were called around 7pm to reports that a boy had been stabbed on Constable Road.

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) said it was called to a private address in the town at 6.57pm after the caller reported a medical emergency.

Two paramedics in ambulances, two crewed ambulances and an air ambulance were dispatched but despite their efforts the victim died at the scene.

Police said three teenagers, two aged 17 and one aged 15, had been arrested on suspicion of murder and were currently in custody.

On Wednesday morning, the surrounding area remained closed to the public.

A police officer could be seen standing guard outside a property on adjacent Reynolds Road and around five police vehicles were parked nearby.

Tributes began to be paid to the teenage victim, with one person leaving flowers and a message which read: “May you rest in peace, so sad.” »

Lead investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Joe Banfield, said: “This is a particularly sad and tragic incident in which a young boy with his whole life ahead of him has died and I would like to reassure the public that we are absolutely determined to bring those involved to justice.

“Arrests were made quickly last night and investigations continue to progress at a rapid pace, but I would nevertheless appeal to any witnesses or anyone with information who has not yet come forward to please do so.

“While we believe this is an isolated incident, high visibility police patrols will take place in Corby today to reassure the local community and I would encourage anyone with concerns in the area to contact one of our agents who will be happy to help you. help.”

The force has urged any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Rayon's family paid him the following tribute:

“Rayon’s death devastated us.

“In fact, there are no words to accurately describe the pain we suffer.

“It's unbearable.

“He was just a boy, a 16-year-old boy with his whole life ahead of him.

“He had hopes, dreams and aspirations, and he was about to apply for an apprenticeship, which would have allowed him to start the next chapter of his young life.

“Rayon is not a statistic and will not be remembered as such – he was a unique human being with a beating heart who was so dearly loved by his mother, his father, his siblings, his niece, his nephew and his friends.

“Rayon had a big heart and told us every day how much he loved us all.

“We are all experiencing the worst days of our lives and our hearts are completely broken.

“Rayon, we are so proud of you and we will always miss you.”
