13-year-old boy identified in Grand Isle drowning

A 13-year-old boy who drowned on Grand Isle Beach on Saturday has been identified. Grand Isle police identified Mario Mariel Oviedo Jr. as the boy who drowned. Police say Oviedo drowned on Grand Isle Beach Saturday and his body washed up Sunday morning. Grand Isle police said it happened just behind Bridge Side Marina around 2:45 p.m. and the boy was on the beach with his family. This is an ongoing investigation.
