13 injured in Montgomery shooting

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A total of 13 people were injured in an overnight mass shooting in Montgomery.

Nine people were shot and four others were injured during a crowded party in the area of ​​North Pass Road and Alabama River Parkway. Montgomery police and firefighters responded shortly after 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said in a statement that more than 600 shots were fired during the shooting.

Police said the nine shooting victims all suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and among the victims were three juveniles.

A woman and a boy were taken to hospital. Three men, two women and two other boys went to the hospital by private vehicle before first responders arrived.

City officials confirmed that in addition to the shooting victims, four people arrived at the emergency room for treatment. A woman and two men were injured in a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Their injuries are described as not life-threatening. Another woman arrived, slightly injured by shards of glass.

No suspects or motive have been released and the investigation into the shooting continues. City officials say Mayor Reed will release additional information as it becomes available.
