$10,000 reward offered in deadly downtown Memphis shooting | News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – CrimeStoppers announced Monday that it has increased the cash reward leading to the arrests of those involved in the shooting death of a woman in downtown Memphis to $10,000 last year.

Charlisa Reed, 22, was shot and killed on August 27, 2023.

In a news release, CrimeStoppers said Reed went to a downtown Memphis restaurant with a friend after work. They left the restaurant just before 3 a.m. and got into Reed's car parked on South Main Street near Pontotoc Street, the agency said.

“At that point, a light gray Dodge Charger with tinted windows turned toward Main and shots were fired from a passenger window,” CrimeStoppers said.

Reed later died from her injuries, while two other people were also shot but survived the shooting.

Reed's mother, Anita Wilkins, told FOX13 in September that her daughter was preparing to start hair school a week before her death.

Wilkins added $6,000 to the already standard $4,000 to identify a suspect, bringing the reward to $10,000, CrimeStoppers said in the news release.

Wilkins told CrimeStoppers she found video of the shooting at a local business owner, adding that there may have been a second shooter nearby.

“My daughter had just started her own business and was considering going to hair school. I want justice for her. Too many of our young people are dying and not getting the opportunity to live their lives,” Wilkins said in a statement.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-2274.
