10-year-old child killed and 9 injured in accident near Bronte | KTAB

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A 10-year-old child died and nine were injured in a crash 30 miles south of Sweetwater.

At approximately 7:13 a.m. on June 6, a Honda Pilot towed a trailer while traveling north on State Highway 153 while a Toyota truck was traveling south.


The Honda left the north side of the road and ended up in a ditch. The driver then overcorrected while trying to get back on the road, causing the car to skid in the southbound lane.

The Toyota went over a hill and struck the Honda in the southbound lane, causing a 10-year-old child to be ejected from the Honda during the collision.

The driver of the Honda was taken to hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. A 10-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Two children in the Honda were transported to a children's hospital and their conditions are unknown. Another passenger was taken to hospital with a disabling injury in stable condition.

The driver and a passenger of the Toyota were taken to hospital. Their lives are not in danger. Three children in the Toyota were transported to a children's hospital with disabling injuries and in stable condition.

The driver of the Honda and an adult passenger were wearing seat belts, but none of the children were wearing theirs. All passengers in the Toyota were wearing seat belts and road conditions were clear and dry.
