1 person charged in fatal Goldsboro shooting after argument

Tysher Davis turned himself in on Friday for murder in the June 5 shooting death of Vorteryahj Sanders, according to Goldsboro police.

Police said the two men knew each other and believed they had been arguing before the shooting.

Around 5:45 p.m., Goldsboro Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1600 block of S. John Street. Officers found Davis with an apparent gunshot wound. Davis, 18, was taken to ECU Health in Greenville for his injuries before his eventual release.

While responding to this shooting, another call reported an unconscious person in the 300 block of Hollowell Street. Officers found Sanders in a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. Sanders died from his injuries.

Investigators determined Sanders was part of the incident on John Street. Sanders was 21 and lived in Dudley.

Davis will make his first court appearance Monday. He was taken to the Wayne County Detention Center and given no bond.

The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
