1 person arrested Sunday after teen injured in drive-by shooting

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department has released details about a shooting that occurred Sunday in the 3600 block of NE 11 that led to the arrest of a teenager.

According to APD officials, officers were called to the 3600 block of NE 11 to deal with a person who had been shot. Officials noted that when officers arrived, they located a 14-year-old girl who had been shot and told officers she and her friends were walking on North Grand when a car passed them and allegedly shot at them. on it from the car.


APD officials said the 14-year-old and witnesses were able to describe the vehicle and it was located in the area by another officer. The suspect, identified as Juvanie Ramos, 17, allegedly ran on foot, but was arrested after officers established a perimeter.

According to officials, Ramos was arrested and charged with alleged aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and then booked into the Potter County Jail.

APD officials say the violent crimes unit is investigating the incident.
