A second man was shot and treated at the scene.

Neighbors told FOX13 they were awakened by the sound of gunshots. “I was sound asleep and it just surprised me,” said one neighbor who asked to remain anonymous out of fear for his safety. “When I woke up, I probably heard four or five more. I don't know how many I heard before. I woke up.”

All of the neighbors FOX13 spoke with asked to remain anonymous out of fear for their safety, saying the sound of gunshots in their neighborhood was all too common. But their message was the same: for their community to become safer, it must unite against violence.

“It’s not just about one person, it’s going to take the whole town to come together,” a neighbor told FOX13. “If you see something, speak up.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
