1 killed, 4 injured in Compton shooting

A shooting at a party in Compton left one person dead and several others hospitalized Friday night.

The incident happened at a home near Greenleaf Boulevard and South Mayo Avenue around 8 p.m., according to the Compton Sheriff's Station.

One person was found dead at the scene and four others were transported to a local hospital under unknown conditions. The victims were identified as only three women and two men.

Sky5 footage from the scene shows police surrounding a house with a large garden. One person was seen lying near the pool, but details of their injuries have not been released by authorities.

Several parts of the backyard were cordoned off as investigators combed the property for evidence.

Several awnings and covered seating areas in the backyard appeared to have been knocked over while a lot of debris was scattered across the lawn.

The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear. The house is located near the Compton College campus.
