1 dead, two injured in shooting at Birmingham apartment complex

Birmingham police said a man was killed and two other people taken to the hospital after a shooting Saturday morning in the Bridlewood area. It happened around 11 a.m. in the courtyard of the Carson Crest apartment complex at 1401 Carson Road, according to police. arrived, none of the victims were on the scene. They learned that a woman who was an innocent bystander had been shot and was at a nearby church. Birmingham Fire and Rescue took her to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two men were transported to Saint-Vincent-Est hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead. The other man suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment. Investigators say the shooting began with a verbal argument when one of the men pulled out a gun and started shooting, and the other returned fire. They don't know what the argument was about. Police spokesman Truman Fitzgerald praised residents for calling 911.
