1 dead after West Adams subway shooting

One person is dead after a shooting on a subway train in the West Adams neighborhood of south Los Angeles on Friday.

It happened around 7:20 p.m. at the JeffersonLa Cienega station, located in the 6600 block of Jefferson Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers arrived to find a man in his 30s who had died after being shot in the head.

They are looking for three suspects who fled the area while skateboarding.

“There are indications that there may have been an altercation or fight here at ground level and that the individuals ran upstairs onto the platform and boarded a train that was here at the station,” said LAPD Captain Jaime Bennett.

Due to the investigation, Metro turned away all E Line trains from the Culver City and La Brea stations.

SkyCal flew over the scene of the shooting, where more than a dozen police officers could be seen as they investigated the circumstances of the incident.

No further information has yet been provided.

“Violence in the streets that spills over into our transit systems is a growing problem in the Greater Los Angeles area. Metro extends its condolences to the victim's family and friends of the family,” a spokesperson said. -Metro spokesperson in a press release.
