1 dead after officer-involved shooting in Arlington – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The Arlington Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one person dead Sunday evening.

According to police, around 10:34 p.m., officers went to Red Kane Park, located in the 6500 block of South Cooper Street, to investigate a reported domestic dispute between a 42-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman. years. who were previously in a relationship.

Police said when officers arrived at the park and began to exit their patrol vehicles, the man brandished a handgun and fired several shots at the woman, striking her.

Three officers then immediately fired their service weapons at the man, hitting him, police said.

Police say officers provided first aid to the man and woman until paramedics arrived. Both were transported to area hospitals.

Police said the man was later pronounced dead from his injuries. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the man as Shannon Boyd of Irving.

The woman is currently in critical condition, police said.

According to police, no officers were injured during the incident.
