1 dead after double assault in Brockton, no suspects arrested

One person died Monday after a double stabbing at a Brockton home, officials said.

Police have not arrested any suspects in the incident, but an investigation is ongoing, according to Brockton police spokesman Darren Duarte.

State Police were notified of a double stabbing at 23 Melrose Ave. around 7:40 p.m. Monday, District Attorney Tim Cruz said in a post on X.

Two men were transported to area hospitals, where one victim was pronounced dead, Cruz said.

The incident does not appear to be a random act of violence, Cruz added.

Duarte said the prosecutor's office is handling the investigation into the incident. No further information has been released.
