1 dead, 7 injured in shooting at Louisville nightclub

Gunfire erupted at a west Louisville nightclub early Saturday morning, leaving one person dead and seven injured, including one person still in critical condition.

Officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department were called to the H20 Lounge in the Russell neighborhood shortly before 1 a.m., WDRB reported. When they arrived on scene, they immediately encountered two people suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the assistance provided, one of the victims was pronounced dead on the spot.

The second victim was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries and life-threatening injuries. Their current condition was unclear.

During their investigation into the violence, authorities were alerted by medical staff at local hospitals to the presence of six additional victims. Police said they self-transported and sought treatment on their own following the shooting. None of their injuries would be life-threatening.

So far, few other details about the shooting have been released and no arrests have been made.

The circumstances leading to the shooting are also unclear and authorities have said they are still determining the relationship, if any, between the victims.

LMPD asked anyone with information to come forward.

An investigation into this matter is underway.
