1 dead, 4 injured after crash near Denison, IA

DENISON, Iowa (KTIV) – A crash Tuesday evening in Crawford County, Iowa, killed one man and sent several people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says the crash happened around 9:50 p.m. on Highway 30, west of N Avenue, just east of the town of Denison.

Around 9:50 p.m., ISP says a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix was heading east on Highway 30 when it lost control and collided with a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban traveling west.

There were four people in the Grand Prix, three of them were seriously injured and were airlifted to an Omaha hospital, while the fourth person died instantly. The deceased was identified as Cory Beer, 35, of Bayard, Iowa.

The three injured people were identified as Brent Stephan, 23, of Yukon, Oklahoma, Stacy Holloway, 44, of Lytton, Iowa, and Heaven Holloway, 23, also of Lytton. According to ISP, Stephan was the driver of the Grand Prix and the only one wearing a seat belt in the vehicle.

The driver of the Suburban was identified as Morgan Andersen, 19, of Shelby, Iowa. ISP says she was transported to Denison Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Vail Volunteer Fire Department, the crash closed Highway 30 while authorities responded to the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
