1 dead, 2 injured in shooting in southeast Washington

The shooting happened in the 1600 block of W Street, Southeast, shortly after 6 p.m.

WASHINGTON — A man was killed and two other people were shot and injured in Southeast D.C. Friday evening.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened in the 1600 block of W Street, Southeast, shortly after 6 p.m.

When police arrived, they found two men and a woman. The three victims had been shot. They were conscious and breathing when help arrived.

All three victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Police confirmed Friday evening that one of the victims, an unidentified man, had died. Nothing is known about the condition of the other two victims.

No suspicious information has been released.

Police have closed the 1500 to 1600 blocks of W Street, SE, while they investigate the shooting.

This is the third triple shooting in DMV in less than 24 hours. Shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday, three men were shot to death in Leesburg, Virginia, and a 14-year-old girl, a woman and a man were injured in a shooting in District Heights, Maryland, around 2 p.m. Friday .
