1 dead, 1 arrested after fatal crash in Robeson County, highway patrol says

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — One person is dead and another person was arrested following a crash Wednesday afternoon in Robeson County, said First Sgt. said SB Lewis of the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Around 5:19 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at Mount Zion Church Road and NC 71.

A Ford Ranger was traveling west on Mount Zion Church Road and a Ford Fusion was traveling north on NC 71 when the driver of a Ford Ranger went off the road to the right and struck a ditch.

The driver, Presley Prather, was pronounced dead at the scene, the NCHP said.

After the impact, the Ford Fusion came to rest on the roadway. The driver, Isaac Locklear, suffered minor injuries but was not transported to a medical facility, the NCHP said.

An investigation by the North Carolina Highway Patrol concluded that both vehicles failed to stop at a stop sign, leading to the collision.

Although both parties failed to stop at a four-way intersection, Isaac Locklear's actions caused Prather's death. Locklear was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, the NCHP said.
