Vehicle seized at Lake Lahontan, deputies still searching for suspect | News

On the morning of June 29, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office seized the suspect's white Dodge truck at Lake Lahontan, but did not find the suspect.

After investigation, the agency discovered that Shytle was not in the area.

Shytle remains at large and is wanted on several criminal charges.

June 27, 4:49 p.m. Update

A suspect has been identified in two shootings that occurred Wednesday in Silver Springs.

Silver Springs resident Stephen Thomas Shytle, 53, was identified in a news release from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

His whereabouts are currently unknown.

Shytle is believed to be driving a white 2001 Dodge Ram extended cab truck with Nevada license plate 119Y67. The truck also has a log rack attached to the bed.

Shytle should be considered armed and dangerous. The public is advised not to attempt to contact him. Instead, contact law enforcement immediately.

Two men were taken to hospital by Care Flight after being shot in Silver Springs Wednesday night.

The Sheriff's Office Central Command Patrol Team responded to the Lahontan State Park Ranger Station at Lake Lahontan around 5:30 p.m. for a report of a man who had been shot multiple times.

When officers arrived, they discovered the shooting had occurred at a home on Birch Street in Silver Springs, according to a statement from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies went to the home and found another man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Both men were transported to the hospital via Care Flight and their conditions are not known to the Sheriff's Office.

Authorities believed the suspect in the shooting had barricaded himself in a building at the Birch Street property.

They established a perimeter and mobilized their SWAT team.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit obtained a warrant to search the property. The search did not result in the suspect being located.

The suspect has not yet been positively identified and detectives continue to process the crime scene.
