Teenager killed in Kilkenny workplace accident, investigation launched, Garai confirms 'incident'

A TEENAGER has been killed in a workplace accident in Co Kilkenny.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene in the village of Freshford yesterday afternoon after being alerted to an “incident”.

A young man, aged around 10, later died at the scene.

His body was taken to Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out.

The Health and Safety Authority has been informed of the incident and will investigate.

In a statement this morning, a Garda spokesperson said: “Garda and emergency services were alerted to an incident in Freshford, County Kilkenny yesterday afternoon, Thursday 26 June 2024 .

“A young man, aged around twenty, died on the spot.

“The HSA authority has been informed and will conduct its own investigation.”

An HSA spokesperson added: “The HSA is aware of this incident and has launched an investigation.

“No additional information is available at this time. »
