Authorities said Guevara was last seen around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday near Elizabeth Landing and Brady Recreation Way.

The U.S. Coast Guard said the victim went missing while swimming with her family in Stoney Creek at the Elizabeth Landing Community Boat Launch.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department found her body Thursday afternoon, police said.

Authorities said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

“This is a truly tragic moment,” said Cmdr. Rob Concepcion, incident commander for Coast Guard Sector Maryland – National Capital Region. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the missing swimmer. Despite the stormy weather and the Coast Guard’s lack of personnel at this time, multiple teams were scouring the area in hopes of safely returning the swimmer home.”

The Coast Guard issued an urgent notice to boaters to alert them of the swimmer's disappearance.

The Coast Guard then deployed a 45-foot response boat from Curtis Bay and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Atlantic City, New Jersey, to search the area.

The research also included:

  • Anne Arundel County Fire Department Fireboat Crew
  • Anne Arundel County Police Department responders
  • Maryland Natural Resources Police responders
  • Baltimore City Fire Department Responders
