But what awaited her was prostitution, as she was forced to work for Gerard Francisc Lazaroiu and his parents Antonio Lazaroiu and Florina-mhaela Ion. Separately, the leader of a pedophile gang admitted other offenses earlier this year.

The leader of a paedophile gang jailed for child sex offences has confessed to new crimes. Notorious predator Mubarek Ali was previously jailed for a string of sex offences in what is believed to be one of the biggest operations in West Mercia Police's history.

The “extremely dangerous criminal” was part of a gang of men who attacked four young girls from Telford. The girls, who were just 13 years old, were victims of sexual abuse, trafficking and prostitution.

Ali – who is being held at HMP Hewell near Redditch – admitted two counts of rape, one count of trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, three counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of indecent assault.

The sex offender – formerly of Regent Street, Wellington – pleaded guilty to the crimes at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Friday April 5 this year.

Three women and two men involved in an international human trafficking ring were jailed last year. The gang organized the transport of prostitutes from Hungary to different parts of the UK, including Birmingham.

Attila Lakatos, 44, and Katalin Bogdan, 33, admitted facilitating the travel of an individual for the purpose of exploitation under section 2 of the Modern Slavery Act. While Peter Lasxlo, 35, and Livia Rezmuves, 25, and Csilla Varga, 35, also admitted the crime of participating in the activities of an organized crime group.

A phone belonging to Lakatos was found to contain more than 10,000 messages about “adult sex workers” they planned to bring to Norfolk, Birmingham and other parts of the UK. The group, from Norwich, were sentenced to a total of more than 10 years in prison after a hearing at Norwich Crown Court.

A gang was jailed for almost 25 years for plotting to control prostitution and running a brothel. The three men and three women operated from addresses in Smethwick and advertised on escort websites offering women for sexual activity for money, the court heard.

Their operation came to light when a woman forced to work for them managed to escape and report what had happened to her to the police. She was brought from Romania under false pretenses in November 2020, at the age of 18.

The woman was first taken to a house in Arden Road and then to another house in Parkes Street, which was then run as a brothel. She was subjected to threats, violence and restraints and was forced to work 16 to 18 hours a day, with most of her “earnings” going to the group that controlled her.

But in January 2021, the woman managed to escape and raise the alarm. She was brought to safety and an investigation was immediately launched.

An evil family exploited and trafficked a teenage girl, forcing her into prostitution across the country. Gerard Francisc Lazaroiu, his mother Florina-mhaela Ion and his father Antonio Lazaroiu announced the victim on an escort site and took all his earnings.

The victim was threatened with being sent back to Romania “in pieces” if she did not agree to prostitute herself and was also attacked on occasion. Her seven-month ordeal began shortly after arriving in the UK in October 2020.

She arrived in the country hoping to have a relationship with 22-year-old Gerard Francisc, who lived in Walsall and who had also been promised a job at Pandora. But she was soon ordered to work in the sex trade against her will by him and her mother Ion, 38, who controlled her identity documents.

Over the following months, the two men physically assaulted the 19-year-old victim. Antonio, 40, was in prison at the time of his arrival in the UK, but became “actively involved” in its exploitation upon his release, then stepped up his activities by deciding to publicize it online.

Gigi Ciobanica

A Birmingham-based gang leader is facing jail for masterminding a people trafficking ring that saw young women smuggled into the UK to work in brothels. Gigi Ciobanica, 46, worked with Priyantha Yakdehige, 54, and Cristina Olaru, 31, to control their young victims and take a cut of the money they earned.

Described by police as the Romanian “boss”, Ciobanica, of Grasmere Road, Soho, forced his victims to work as sex workers in Swindon brothels. The proceeds of the crime were then laundered, detectives said.

Wiltshire Police launched an investigation into an organized crime gang (OCG) dating back to 2015. The trio were found guilty following a ten-week jury trial at Winchester Crown Court.
