Multiple fire services were called to tackle a 'stubborn' blaze at a flat/barn in Enfield

The Enfield Volunteer Fire Company and Bangs Ambulance were dispatched Saturday morning to a “fully involved structure fire” in the 300 block of Hines Road in Enfield, and a fire chief who was first on the scene confirmed a fire in an apartment building and a barn and requested several additional fire companies be dispatched, according to a statement from Enfield Fire Saturday night.

Enfield was quickly joined by units and firefighters from the Newfield, Trumansburg, Mecklenburg, Danby and West Danby departments, and “worked tirelessly to extinguish the stubborn fire and were ultimately able to bring it under control after an hour on scene.”

Newfield Fire Company says its two units and seven firefighters worked at the scene for approximately four hours.

In its statement, the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company thanked “Newfield Fire Company, Trumansburg Fire Department, Mecklenburg Fire Company, Danby Fire Company, West Fire Company Danby, Bangs Ambulance, Red Cross, Tompkins County Sheriffs, Tompkins County DoER, New York State Fire, Tompkins County Coordinators, TC Highway Department and our crews dedicated fire/EMS personnel for their assistance at the scene. »
