Man allegedly stabbed and killed by daughter in Visalia

VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The man allegedly stabbed by his own daughter in Visalia has died and been identified by police.

Police say 90-year-old Don Weerasinghe is the man who was stabbed by his daughter on Tuesday.

According to the Visalia Police Department, officers were called to the 900 block of North Atwood Street in Visalia Tuesday evening after a report of an assault. Weerasinghe was found unconscious and bleeding profusely from his head.

Investigators say his daughter, Victoria Roberts, 64, attacked him with a vase and other objects before stabbing him.

Weerasinghe was transported to Kaweah Health where he remained in critical condition before ultimately succumbing to his injuries Friday, police said.

Roberts was arrested at the scene and booked into the Tulare County Adult Pretrial Facility. Police said she was arrested on suspicion of homicide.
