Fire causes $50,000 damage to Appleton apartment, cause undetermined

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – A fire early Friday morning at an apartment complex in Appleton caused an estimated $50,000 in damage and firefighters are investigating the incident.

Around 3:30 a.m. on June 28, a call came into the emergency department about a possible fire at an apartment in the 3200 block of East Parkside Boulevard, a news release from the Appleton Fire Department said.


When crews arrived, light smoke was coming from a first-floor apartment, fire alarms were going off and residents were already evacuating.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes and searches were carried out in all the apartments in the flat.

It was noted that firefighters are still working to determine the cause, but the charging lithium-ion batteries were near the area of ​​origin and contributed to the spread of the fire.

Damage to the building and its contents is estimated at approximately $50,000.

Appleton Police Department assisted Appleton FD with the incident. No additional information was provided.
