Chase homeowner spray paints teens who repeatedly knocked on his door late at night – Salmon Arm News

Pranksters get spray painted

Chase Mounties claims a local homeowner covered teenagers in spray paint in a bid to later identify the pranksters after becoming frustrated with a string of nightly mischief – including throwing rocks and eggs at his house .

Police were notified of a disturbance on Pine Street on Saturday, June 15, around 9 p.m.

“The caller had previously reported recurring problems with youths knocking on his door and running away late at night,” said Constable Sarah Van Wilgenburg of Chase RCMP. “On this occasion, the youths escalated their behaviour, throwing eggs and rocks at the house and kicking in the front door.”

Van Wilgenburg said the caller's husband “used spray paint in an attempt to mark the youth for later identification.”

Officers were able to locate and arrest a young man who was found to be involved. The teenager was released into the custody of his parents with a warning that criminal action would be taken if he continued his behavior.

RCMP said parents of youth who came home with spray paint on themselves or their clothing on the night of June 15 may want to talk with their children about their evening activities.
