The elderly grandmother of the suspected shooter in a drive-by shooting in Eastpointe on Tuesday has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

The incident took place in the 16000 block of Forest Avenue around 1 a.m. Detective Lt. Investigators tracked the suspect to his home in Casco Township, where he and another man eventually turned themselves in to police.

Further investigation was conducted by the Eastpointe Police Department's Detective Bureau, Special Investigations Unit and Special Response Team, and evidence hidden by the owner of the suspects' home was found. The owner was subsequently taken into custody.

The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office reviewed the case and filed charges against three suspects: Fistler, Derek Morris, 51, of Port Huron, and his mother, Jaraldine Morris, 81, of Roseville. Derek Morris is Fistler's father, according to County Attorney Peter Lucido.

Fistler is currently being held in the Macomb County Jail on $1 million cash/surety bail on nine charges, including: two counts of assault with intent to murder; using a computer to commit a crime; falsification of evidence; four separate weapons violations; and malicious use of a telecommunications device.

Derek Morris is charged with six counts, including two counts of conspiracy to commit assault with intent to commit murder; accessory after the fact to a crime; lying to a peace officer; communicating by computer and the Internet with another person to commit a crime; and malicious use of telecommunications services. Bail has been set at $500,000 cash/surety.

According to Eastpointe police, initial investigations indicate the victim, whose home was targeted, was in a dispute with his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, Fistler. The defendants had made online threats against the target, Lucido said.
