74-year-old man missing from Garfield Park home may need medical attention

CHICAGO — A search was underway Friday for a 74-year-old man who police say has been missing for nearly a week and may need medical attention.

According to Chicago police, Andrew Cox, 74, is missing from his home in the 3900 block of West Washington Boulevard in the Garfield Park neighborhood.

Officers say Cox was last contacted on Sunday, June 23, but has not been heard from since.

The missing man, who is 1.63 metres tall and weighs around 119 kilos, has brown eyes and grey hair.

In a photograph provided by Chicago police, Cox is seen with a gray mustache, but it is unclear whether he had one at the time of his disappearance.

Cox may need medical attention, but police have not provided any specific details about any possible health issues.

Police added that Cox may be driving a silver Hyundai, but did not provide details on the model year or license plate number.

Authorities informed the public of the man's disappearance in a press release Friday afternoon.
